Dermorphin research information
Research Overview
Dermorphin is a naturally occurring heptapeptide first isolated from the skin of South American tree frogs of the genus Phyllomedusa. It contains a D-alanine residue at position 2, making it one of the few known naturally occurring peptides containing a D-amino acid. Dermorphin binds to the mu-opioid receptor with approximately 40 times the affinity of morphine, making it an extremely valuable tool in opioid receptor research, pain neuroscience, and studies of analgesic mechanisms.
