Research Overview
Kisspeptin-10 is the shortest biologically active fragment of the kisspeptin family of peptides, consisting of the C-terminal 10 amino acids (112 to 121) of the full-length kisspeptin-54. It binds to and activates the GPR54 (KISS1R) receptor with potency equal to the full-length molecule. Kisspeptins are critical upstream regulators of GnRH neurons, making them gatekeepers of the reproductive axis. Research with Kisspeptin-10 has been instrumental in understanding the neuroendocrine regulation of reproduction, puberty onset, and the metabolic control of fertility.
