KPV is a tripeptide (Lys-Pro-Val) derived from the C-terminal end of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone. Despite being only three amino acids long, it retains significant anti-inflammatory activity from the parent hormone. KPV enters cells and travels to the nucleus where it inhibits inflammatory pathways, particularly NF-κB signaling.
