TB500 (Thymosin B4 Acetate) research information

Research Overview

TB-500 is the synthetic form of Thymosin Beta-4 (Tβ4), a 43 amino acid acetylated peptide that is one of the most abundant intracellular proteins in nearly every mammalian cell. Tβ4 functions primarily as the principal G-actin sequestering protein in eukaryotic cells, regulating cytoskeletal dynamics that govern cell migration, proliferation and differentiation. In research models TB-500 has demonstrated consistent effects on dermal wound healing, corneal repair, cardiac tissue regeneration after ischemic insult, neuronal survival and angiogenesis. Beyond actin regulation it interacts with multiple signaling pathways including ILK/Akt, PINCH/ILK/α-parvin and the laminin-5 integrin network, helping to recruit endothelial progenitor cells and downregulate inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, TNF-α and MCP-1. The peptide's small molecular size and exceptional tissue penetration mean it can travel systemically to reach injury sites that bulkier proteins cannot, which is why it is often paired with BPC-157 in regenerative-medicine research. With decades of literature behind it and a well-mapped mechanism of action, TB-500 remains a flagship compound for tissue-repair, sports-injury and cardiovascular regeneration research.
